Rostock base panel for 92mm fan

I wanted to get a bit more airflow happening inside my rostock's base. I found my steppers get quite warm.

I'm also learning a new design package - Autodesk Fusion 360. Coming from Sketchup, it's a beast! I figured this would be a nice, simple design so I can start to learn how to model in Fusion.

Anyway here's the finished design, am printing it now. Hopefully I got my measurements for the holes right!

I got this idea from another design on thingiverse - added a 45 degree duct.

This should direct the air onto the X/Y steppers and past the electronics. I made the plate able to be installed upside down so you can have one on each side of the base and get PUSH>PULL airflow throughout.

Looks good but you might want to make a provision for an intake filter if you are sucking air in with the fan when I used to build my own PCs I found that cut up chunks of Airconditiong filters over all the places that air was being sucked into a case helped a lot with longevity and then I realize that if I changed the air flow of the the case fans so that they sucked in the air rather than blew it out I just needed to filter the fan intakes

I have been thinking about the Peek fan and wondering if I should do something to keep dust etc from the cooling ridges of the PEEK

Good idea, especially considering there's likely to be bits of filament floating around near the printer base.
You could simply put a bit of gauze or mesh over the front of the intake. I'll see if I can come up with a way to do it.

I finalized the design tonight - I didn't want to bother with finding the right length screws for the fan, so I made some little pegs - the fan clips on quite nicely and is held very snug.

Nice work! I have also been using fusion 360 quite a bit. I'm loving it thus far.

Finished!

This came out awesome, really pleased with it. The fan clips are great - they're VERY snug and the fan goes on with a nice 'click' !

I'm going to print a 2nd plate for the other side so I can get some nice airflow happening.
