I have 2 rostock max v2 the motor for the filament extruder is not moving it just clicks. I have rewired 3 times and it works if i switch with one of the axis but will not work while pluged in where it should be. please need help asap.

I have 8 built and working properly.

That's an impressive stable of printers if you've got 10 Max's. Would love to see a picture. But onto helping you. Have you tried changing the motor current for the extruder motor? Perhaps set it to match the axis motors, since those drivers move it.

It's concerning that the motor is mis-behaving while connected to the extruder drive channel, but not when connected to a normal axis channel.

Has anyone messed with the firmware for that machine? How long has it been in service?

I will test this and see if I can figure out how to do it.

The firmware has not been touched on either of the two printers that have this problem. Neither of the two have printed anything because we can not get the extruder to move the ABS it just ticks back and forth

Disconnect the bowden tube from the hot end (leave the push fit connector screwed in!) and try to push filament through the hot end by hand while it's at temperature. It shouldn't be very difficult to do. If it feeds ok by hand, try extruding filament from MC while the bowden is disconnected and see if it still skips.

the hot end works fine we powered it all up and the filament comes out the head fine but the motor still just ticks. Even running it with no filament in it the motor just ticks back and fourth on both of the printers that are not working.

I'd almost suspect the current value for the extruder stepper at this point.

Dig around in Configuration.h for the motor current settings and post them please. (must be from the firmware that you loaded on to the printer!)

line 701 i thtink this is what you want. (155,155,155,165,0)

Change the 165 to 130 and let me know if that fixes the issue.
