Hello,
Last night I was printing a rectangular part and at some point the hot ends peek insulator gave up. I wasn't in the room when it happened, but the end result was not being able to use my Rostock until parts arrive. I can't figure out what happened but the lower threaded part of the Peek that screws into the hot end bent where it goes into the lower aluminum tube. Of course the filament jammed and that was it. I was printing PLA at 180°..... I've removed the Peek and tested the hot end to see if it would get to temperature an maintain it, nothing unusual.
Anyone have this happen before?

Sounds like your hotend got way hotter than 180C. You might want to verify the temp with a temperature probe to ensure the thermistor calibration is correct.

I was thinking the same thing. On the other hand, I'vr run 4,200 meters thru the printer with no issues till now. I did check the hot end to see if it was responsive to thermistor readings and all was good. I'm guessing that there was a loss of reading from thermistor to controller which caused overheating. There was also a nasty smell when heating unit for testing this afternoon, perhaps a connection was lost to thermistor????

If the thermistor pulled out of the hot end just a little bit, it's game over.
