Kapton Alternative during build?

Post by nrbelk »

I'm sorry if this is the wrong spot to ask this but it seemed like it would be a General Tip if it was answered.

I'm on page 66 of the instruction PDF on building the Rostock Max V2. I'm at the point where I need to use kapton tape on the heated bed. One piece will be removed but the rest will stay there to protect the electronics.

I've ordered Kapton tape from Amazon but it still hasn't arrived yet and I would like to continue building my printer. Are there any alternatives to Kapton tape I could use for this step that are easier to find locally?

I have read that some people use some type of silicone wrap for the hotend step, but this won't work since it isn't sticky.

Thanks

You can get away without using it on the heated bed. If you do put a heatspreader on it, you will need the Kapton.

The Kapton on the _bottom_ needs to remain in place to protect the exposed wiring points.
