First Calibration Issue

I'm doing my first calibration on the end stops. The machine is stock pieces. I've set the Z home. When I go to the Z Tower first, the paper won't touch the nozzle, it's just above it. The instructions indicate to "lower the platform" or "raise the platform" which is insanely confusing to me since I'm not touching the platform. When I adjust the screw on the Y Tower Adjustment Macro, the nozzle crashes into the build plate. I've loosened the screw a good bit and still having the same issue. I'm afraid If I keep trying I'm going to break my nozzle.

The platform is referring to what holds the hot end, the part that moves across the build plate. If the nozzle is not touching at the Z tower, then move the endstop screw on the Z town in. If it is touching too much move the Z screw out. If you're going from not touching to then crashing into the bed you are turning the screw too much.
