Hey de oh

I was thinking of storing my filament in tupperware along with a desiccant pack. The problem I'm running into is deciphering the sizes. most tupperware containers measure their capacity in cups (or similar) and not in length/width/height.

I'm using the filament from Microcenter. It comes on 8" diameter spools that are 3" thick

most of the stuff I'm finding is to/too/tutu small

I got a giant weatherproof bin from Wal-Mart. Ziploc brand. It holds a dozen spools at a time along with a bucket of rice, and any time I get spare dessicant packs from opening a spool or a new toy or whatever, it goes in the bin too. Works great!

I found a tub with a lid seal at Target that's been treating me well.

Not 100% airtight like a tupperware, but it definitely stops air exchange.

I got these tubs from Morrisons in the UK and I can get 3X 1KG spools in them and they are airtight, think they were £2-3 each and are aimed at cereal storage?.
Indicating Silica Gel beads in the base (lots) with the spools sitting on some small Tripod stands I printed out.
So far I can see no colour change (Turns Green/Blue when water saturated) after several months use due to the quantity so I'd guess i'll rarely if ever have to oven dry the Silica Gel.
I got a reel of ABS filament that had not been sealed properly in the factory so I tried it and it was spitting furiously.. a week+ in the desiccator tub
beside a radiator and it dried it off with no spitting at all. Could have been quicker but I didn't get round to trying it but it does work nicely for ABS.

Depending on the brand of filament, gallon ZipLock(tm) bags may work. I like them because I'm not exposing them all to moisture just to get to the one on the bottom.

I use a large tub with a large desecant bag
