Dial Indicator Placement

I am having some minor issues with my calibration and was thinking about using a dial indicator I had laying around. I would prefer to set it up so I don't need to remove the hot end to use it. I was thinking about designing a mount that hangs of a bracket holding the arms (1), there is unused hole, and then if there is too much flex run another arm up to the top bracket holding the hot end(2). Will not having the indicator in the same location as hot end make any measurements worthless as the geometry will be off? I would prefer not to have to remove the hot end to check calibration. Is anyone aware of a Rostock MAX mount stl file already out there to mount a dial indicator while keeping the hot end installed?

It worked like a charm. I am hoping to get some quiet time this weekend to really dial the printer in now.
