Hi!

One year ago I was in San Francisco and bought 4 Levis jeans (for a good price).

Today, 3 of them have holes at strategic inadequate positions. Very bad quality.

In 1 month I'll be in Washington DC and because jeans (clothing in general?) are in Europe much more expensive, I plan to buy some new ones.
But I don't want to make the same mistake.

Do you have a recommendation for quite durable jeans?

For me, Levi's, only Levi's.

Unless you're tiny, then buy Sears Toughskins if they still make them. They're basically 100% polyester but you can take a belt sander to them.

Apparently Levis is making poor quality now. I found this thread that mentioned Lucky jeans.

Can't help you on brand as I don't even own any jeans. I wear slacks I buy at thrift stores. I am a cheap clothes kind of person. For special occasions I wear $400 suits, but for casual wear I go cheap. Heck I am so cheap I won't get a decent belt and have been using a rope for about a year now. I get looks and comments, but I just don't care anymore. The leather on leather belts is crap now. A leather belt used to last a long time, now it is crap too. Best of luck finding decent jeans though.

My now-favorite belt was $10 from Walmart. It looks like tightly braided black paracord with leather ends for the tip and buckle. The cord has a rubber core that makes the belt stretchy enough to be comfortable both sitting and standing, but firm enough to keep my pants up. After I got my first one, I went back a week later and grabbed two more for the future. Seems to be wearing well, I'm still on the first one after a year.

That is the same belt I use and I agree it is one of the best I have found.

The President of Levis is all over the news talking about how you should not wash jeans and they will last longer. Just spray them off with vinegar and water at the end of a hard days work. So instead of making quality products, they are now telling you not to wash them.

I buy my jeans from Banana Republic and the GAP... as long as you don't buy the "pre-worn" garbage, they seem to be pretty durable. As for belts, these are absolutely my favorite: http://www.amazon.com/SlideBelt-Black-B ... B00DR1EZ64. I'll never buy a standard belt again.

WTH are those jeans made out of? Paper? Papyrus? Rice?

I haven't owned a pair of denim jeans in 15 years... 5.11 Tactical pants for the win! I tried a couple pair of Duluth Trading Co "Beaver Proof" work pants, but wore them out in less than a year. I do IT support for a living, anything from desktop/server support to pulling network cable. It's not like I work on a road crew or anything.

I wear my pants to work every day, polo shirt is the only stipulation I have for work wear, and no shorts... I refuse to take a job that requires a tie. I'll never wear a noose around my neck again. Didn't even wear one for my wedding. Mandarin collars rock!

I have no problem with wearing a tie from time to time. But not every day in the office.

I'm still young and refuse to wear a full suite for every slightly more important occasion
