Got my package today....

Stripped off all the tape in about 2 hours tonight. Set up my PSU and put together the hot end. Looking forward to the weekend and getting my new toy together and posting some pics :D

Well I'm getting there...no issues so far...it's been fairly straight forward.

Decided to use a different power supply I had lying around. It's modular and all the cables are already sleeved so I don't have to worry about extra messy wires.

This is a good looking build and I think your choice of a larger power supply was a good idea. With all the reports of slow heatup times for the bed, yours
should be much quicker coming up to temperature. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Looks nice. First thing I noticed was that 750W supply.

You may want to pay attention to the wires on the Onyx Bed. Cost me hours today to redo. The bed uses massive power, and as such the tiny #18awg doesn't do the trick (Neither does the hole size in the middle of the base cap)... Just do some hunting around here and you'll have a leg up on it.

Happy building...

Cool thanks for the tip. I see you doubled up the Onyx Bed power wires on your build, I might do the same.

The first thing *I* noticed is that you've got the screws that go into the vertical supports installed on the wrong side. They need to be facing IN, not out. :)

The 18ga wiring is totally sufficient for the Rev2 Onyx bed. The jury is still out on the Rev3. The hole in the center should be fine for up to 14ga wire.

You're welcome! Awkward to fix though.

Not really - a phillips head screwdriver bit and a few minutes of finger power is all it took :)

I had the same issue on two of my side plates.

Well - I'm up and printing....not well but printing.

I'm getting some pretty bloby results and haven't completed a print yet. It seems like the nozzle is dragging in the previous layers. The nozzle will hit one and either skip around or smoosh it around making little peaks.

I'm using black ABS from BilbyCNC at 90C bed and 225C nozzle, just like the build manual specifies. Any idea's on how I might fix?

Welcome to the world of Tweeking. Try lowering the temp of the Hot end a little. Maybe do a search for an exact value on the forum. Or just play with it.

Also you might want to try a slower speed and a smaller row height..

I was having success with the hair spray as a holding mechanism, but not tonight. Every attempt to print has pop'd off the bed. Geez..

Well - looks like I'm figuring this 3D printing thing out.

I'm using a Uhu glue stick for the ABS (get them at Woolies). Works a treat and the part pops right off.

Looks a lot better when you go left to right. Would you be willing to tell us what you did to make such dramatic improvements?

We all learn we see the pictures and then the text telling what you did to improve the quality so greatly.

I can't see that 3rd one. Is it my screen or was it cut off like all my family photos?

Must be your screen settings.

Dropped the temp from 225 to 218 and reduced the print and movement speeds a bit.

Small steps like that made a dramatic difference. Thanks for letting us know what you did to fix your problem prints.
