This video is a great resource for how to crimp your own cables. I've always used needle nose pliers, but that's mainly because I never bought the right tool. For $23 it's hard to go wrong with this one. It buys itself in quality and peace of mind.

If that link goes dead, just search for HT-225D and you should find it.

Great video on how to use that crimper. I have owned the crimper and never could make a good crimp.
Now I may be able to use it properly. Thanks for posting this.

Same with me. I hesitate to admit that I'm an AV tech that solders and terminates wiring every day, but I had never worked with miniature open barrel connectors before I got into 3D printing. Everything I do is fiber, a compression connector, cat-5, soldered, or goes to screw terminals...
Anyway. I bought the tool, ruined 10-15 connectors, tried everything, was sure that I had a defective tool or ordered the wrong die, and nearly gave up before finding this video. After seeing the clip, I haven't made a single bad crimp yet. The very first one looked great.
The only problem is - now I feel the urge to rewire my whole machine again

Please resist the urge!

Great video. The only problem is now the voice in my head is speaking with a brogue accent.
