Just got it in the mail! Can't wait to lay my Replicator to rest once this thing is singing and dancing.

Going to be putting it together in the new year (late Jan) but wanted to take advantage of the sale that happened the weekend which just passed.
It's going to be staring back at me.. beckoning me to put it together, but alas I can't start the build quite yet.

Your box looks a little squished in the top left corner. You should probably at least open it and make sure that nothing is damaged inside. And then resist the temptation to stop whatever else you're doing and start building

Good point. It's a bit banged up on all 6 sides.. Will open it up and inspect the parts tonight.

Heh, I'd really love to throw in a not kid friendly joke to that, but you probably get the point....

Don't pull off the tape if you are thinking of painting the edges before you start you build. The max comes pre-masked just so you can paint it.

Well, got the box home and ripped it open. Gotta say there are a TON of peanuts in there so despite the postal service's best efforts to damage what's inside the components survived. The extrusions look good, no dents or dings on the wood and the borosilicate plate is in one piece Also happy to see that I got a Rambo v1.2 board. I have a RAMPS 1.4 w/ some high end pololu steppers (the 32 uStep capable ones.. not that anyone would ever use em) which according to my friend at Tinkerines says could be fun to play with.. so who knows! The best part about having a non-proprietary board is that a bunch of this stuff is pin compatible!
Haven't decided if I'm going to paint the edges but I have a bunch of time to think about the colour!

I have some questions though about electronics. I have a Taurino w/ RAMPS 1.4 hanging around and 5 DRV8825 (http://www.pololu.com/product/2132) steppers hanging around. I'm not afraid to mess with the firmware to make RAMPS work with Repetier as well.

Are there any benefits to using the RAMPS board with the DRV8825s over the Rambo board I have? Aside from digipots vs trimpots on the stepper drivers. I also imagine the swapout would be relatively straight forward if I chose to switch down the line.

It would be easier for us and SeeMeCNC to troubleshoot possible future problems if you use the Rambo board.

And rightly so! I guess I was just curious if there were any benefits besides being easier to troubleshoot using the Rambo board like better control or reliability. I'll go for the Rambo!

Step one: get the Rostock MAX 0.91 Repetier firmware to load onto my RAMPS board. Check!

Managed to get all of the parts out of the lasercut panels. Lots of wood to paint! Going to be doing all of the edges in fluorescent orange!
Small problem though, with panel 3. Looks like the laser wasn't able to cut all of the way through on some parts so I've been very carefully cutting and ripping the parts apart. I hope that isn't normal because it's a real PITA to tease these apart in the t-slots.

Managed to get all but one t-slot out in one piece. Looks like this guy got roughed up pretty good but I can probably salvage it with some epoxy and a clamp overnight.

SeemeCNC will replace those bad parts, you don't have to fix them yourself. Epoxy would probably work but the original part would be stronger.
I know you want to get started on the kit but I just wanted you to know that SeemeCNC would send you new parts.

I took a closer look at the splits and for the most part seems to be cosmetic. I'm going to epoxy and clamp the piece I showed up top and I'm confident that it'll be as strong as before: the split is fairly close to the melamine on the surface.

While I'm waiting for the epoxy and paint to set/dry I started doing some work on the electronics and attached the enzotech heatsinks onto my DRV8825 steppers. They look awesome!

Those are some manly looking heatsinks you got there.
Make sure you don't drop one on the floor and step on it in bare feet.

A small taste of what's to come. Frame construction starts in a day or two! Lots and LOTS of sanding to get the paint to look good

That is some bright Orange! People won't see the printer, that bright color will blind them! (just kidding)
I want to see what it looks like when it's assembled. I'd bet the orange will look nice.

Well my replicator was good at making people deaf so I'm hoping to blind people with the orange awesomeness instead

The masking tape is coming off and it looks fantastic!

I am trying to get a Rostock Max running with Ramps and Repetier Firmware.
Let me know if you have any idea how to get the settings correct in firmware!

I have it compiling and uploaded correctly on my RAMPs board. When I get home from work, I'll let you know the changes I made

Whether or not it will function correctly is another question, but I'm confident it will as long as the RMAX firmware didn't diverge too much from the Repetier baseline.

I noticed that there were a few Rambo specific changes which made it fail compiling when I changed my board type to RAMPs and will see if I can submit a patch to make them play nice together once I verify that the printer functions.

And it works - I'm still figuring out how to put in all the delta dimensions correctly though.

I tried compiling my own but I got a lot of errors due to, I think, identifying the pins
