KISS slicer questions

Working out some calibration issues on my Rostock Max and ran into a couple odd things in KISS. I created a simple test object consisting of two cylinders, each with a wall thickness of .55mm. When I slice it in KISS I end up with gaps in the final object. I've also had KISS tell me that it can't slice the object as the wall is thinner than the extruded width and it just quits. The picture below shows the preview in Repetier.
So, I made a second opbject with 1.1mm walls which KISS sliced fine. When I printed it with my typical settings for ABS (prime 10, suck 10, wipe 5) it looked like it was starved for filament. I changed to prime 6, suck 6, and wipe 3 and the print was very nice. Now I'm wondering how many issues I have been chasing are actually caused by the slicer and not delta arm blues...
I'm curious if anyone has seen similar issues and what you did to correct them? Any killer tips on KISS?
