SD card not being seen

The 4gig SD card that came with my lcd screen is not being seen by the screen. I have confirmed it is formatted with FAT and have spent the last 2 hours rummaging around the internet for help on this, but all the discussions revolve around Marlin. I have tried to confirm the settings in repetier based on the settings I am seeing in the marlin discussions and it has gotten me nowhere. With card inserted, hitting "mount" does nothing, hitting "delete file" says there is no sd card present. There is not acknowledgement of anything happening upon insertion or removal of the card. My macbook mounts it fine. I am running repetier 0.8 , Thoughts?

Some things to check:
1) Make sure the ribbon cables you are using are no longer than 19 inches long.
2) Are you using short file names? 8.3 naming format is required.
3) I'm assuming that the SD card that came with the LCD board must be SPI compliant, but it may be worth trying another SD card.

1. I need to double check this but I am using the longer cables that were included in the lcd kit so I assumed they were sized appropriately
2. I thought this only applied to the file names, does it apply to drive names as well? Mine is named GCODE shouldn't that be fine?
3. tried other cards, no help

thanks for the feedback. I'll keep trying things

Definitely 8.3 - so like in Kiss, you can set that extension. Haven't launched Slic3r to see if you can rename.

.gco usually...

If you ended up getting two sets of cables with the LCD kit, make sure to use the short ones. The long ones don't work with the SD Card and Seemecnc discontinued sending them with the kits because of people having SD card issues.

You need to rename your files to have no more than a 3 letter extension (.gco) and no more than 8 characters long eg: shortfile.gco or you won't see them on the LCD display.

I'm on a Mac so I don't know if it is the same for other OSes but I needed to name my files all in upper case letters even though all the file names show as lower case on the LCD screen. Files with lower case names didn't show up for me.

thanks guys. I haven't had a chance to get to the machine to confirm, but it seems to me that the cable will be the solution since it is a known problem.

Good to know about the caps on the Mac.

thanks
