I have successfully hooked everything up and I have motion in all steppers. The bed and hot end are both heating and measuring heat with a relative amount of accuracy. The problem I am having is that the X/Y/Z axis were all homing in reverse, but I reversed the red and blue wires going to the board for those axis and then they started homing upwards as they are supposed to. The only problem is that each of these axis will only move upwards now and will not move downwards on commands from the Repetier software regardless of which button I press in Repetier. The buttons also seem to "stick" and the machine just keeps moving in the same direction at whatever rate of speed until it is stopped by either turning off the power supply or hitting the emergency stop button on Repetier. I am able to control the LCD and everything appears to be operating as normal. My gut tells me that I have screwed up the software installation in some manner. Most likely the firmware given that the steppers for everything except the extruder only seem to want to work in one direction only. Can someone please give me a little nudge in the right direction. I'm pretty good with hardware fixes, but software is my weak point and I know I can relentlessly hunt for the right answer for weeks while chewing up my belts and generally making myself miserable trying to fix this. Any and all suggestions will be most welcome.

Did you make any changes in configuration.h before switching the pins on the stepper motors? I initially had the same issue as you (on every motor). Before swapping the red and blue pins I'd tried to fix it in the software by inverting the direction in the firmware. Once I got a chance to swap the pins I also needed to undo the change I'd made in configuration.h. Just a thought. Also, if you did change the firmware, don't forget to re-upload it to the Rambo board.

You're motors will not move in the negative direction until they are homed IIRC.

Thanks for the help folks. I got the firmware squared away and I finally understand that there is nothing wrong with the printer thus far. I can now move on to calibration thanks to the very concise and timely info you have sent my way. I am a complete newbie to 3d printing and your help has proven to be invaluable for me to get started printing. After homing, I find that the print head moves just about any way I want it to except for attempting to move over the end stops of course.

You are most welcome, glad to help. The not moving over stops thing will increase belt longevity greatly!
