Sliver VS Cura with the Rostock Max

Hey folks

Just wanted to post some results on my Rostock Max using a model printed in both Slicer AND Cura.

I noticed slicer printing is very strange and overly complicated while printing test items before, this object is a perfect example.
There are MANY jumps from one side to the other laying down a drop here and a tiny bit there needing retractions where it's not even necessary, especially for an item like this that SHOULD be printed with 1 motion going around and around until finished.

The results are pretty obvious.

Object on Left is Slicer, on right Sliced with CURA then imported into Repetier Host. Settings are pretty much identical except the "raft" as it's called under the object
It even looks better in the Repetier G-Code window I don't know why the Slicer models usually look shoddy.

Anyone having problems printing, try Cura for slicing if they look bad. You have to go into the Contents folder in Mac anyway, find the "profile.py" file, open and change object_center_x and y lines to:
'object_center_x': '0.1',
'object_center_y': '0.1',

This puts the object in the center of the Rostock, if you don't do this it will import the Gcode way off the bed.

Slicer has alot more options but what matters is the print quality in the end.

Did you try Joris? Seems like this would be the cats arse for a delta.

Joris ...this constantly raises the Z height during a single walled print so you get no seam where layer change usually happens, a really great setting for vases and objects like the stretchlet bracelet.

It's a Cura/Skeinforge setting that prints using a spiral toolpath.

Hey yes I used the Joris option it's always on seems to help alot!

I stil have a problem with the Nozzle squashing the prints slightly if they're high, this one was not very high so it was fine
