Always something on this Max v2!

On around 50% of my prints, after laying down a couple of layers perfectly, the machine will suddenly stop extruding and the hot end will just run back and forth in a straight line continuously, until I cancel the print.

Occasionally the print will finish and I've noticed that it seems to have more success when not using a raft. Not sure why this would make a difference.

I have added the accelerometer board and E3D hot end.

I tried not using the SD card and that does not seem to be the problem.

I reinstalled the software and firmware and this doesn't seem to be the problem.

The temperature remains consistent so it's probably not the thermistor wiring either.

Any idea why this is happening?

Thanks for any input!

Matty

Overheating the extruder driver possibly.

Could be a jammed extruder hotend...it can happen if you're over-retracting. What kind of filament material are you using? Try with no retraction.

Could also be a bad connection with the whip...I've had the problem several times of getting a false reading because it got a little loose in its jolting movements...I recommend printing the whip retention clip https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2192079, even if it's not the solution.

A jammed extruder won't stop. It'll just keep grinding.
