The first thing that I would do is to reverse the LCD connectors, sometimes it is hard to get them right even though the board has key marks.

yes.I reversed connectors, tried new cables and another lcd. it has a red board ,not blue like in the kit. flashed software twice.

I'd contact support Kevin. I'm surprised there's a red PCB LCD in there - they've been shipping the blue ones for quite some time.

sorry for confusion, blue was in kit, I had a red one lying around. the blue one has a black screen when plugged in, the red one has a lit up blank blue screen

You may just need to tweak the brightness pot on the back of the LCD display.

I thought of that will try it.

presently, lcd is displaying the two lines as if it has not been flashed. but it has. the pc can control the machine. is there a way to make sure the lcd is configured in the arduino? I do not see any reference to it in configuration.h. do not think I have a hardware problem. after it uploads it says low memory available, stability problems may occur. but I can control it from pc.

You've got something weird going on for sure. I just looked at mine and I've got the cabling connected to the interface board with the red wire on the left. Is that what you've got?
Note that the "stability warning" is just a generic compiler message and doesn't apply to Repetier Firmware.

not near printer now, but the back of the lcd is keyed, and the cables on the rambo follow the pattern that is silk screened on the interface board.

Ah, that's your problem. Pin 1 (red wire) is on the left side of the connector as you look down on it - the silkscreen results on it being on the right, which is incorrect.
You may have watched the video before I had the chance to do an edit. See here:
https://youtu.be/PL5Lf6O1q7Q?t=97
When I originally shot the video, I was referencing the v2 assy manual for the orientation, but I was looking at the wrong photo - the wiring is flipped for the blue-pcb LCD controller. I pulled the video and re-uploaded it with the correction you now see.

My LCD has the blue PCB and I made the same mistake. The LCD end is keyed, and I followed the silkscreen on the adapter board end. With the blue LCD board, the LCD didn't even illuminate.
Once I flipped the cable orientation (opposite of the silkscreen) on the adapter end, my LCD worked fine.

Mine is workng now. i stubbornly built it like the v2, and did not even consider it could be wired backwards!!!!

Well, in my case at least, the directions weren't done yet.

I had the same problem. Instruction video said to align the key with the silk screen and red wire to the left. Could not do both, so tried one then the other. Red wire to the left worked.

The video said to align with the silk-screen and then issued a rather obvious correction to that.
