What were your PID settings afterwards? I can't seem to figure mine out. It's worse with the aluminium heat spreader on and never settles back down.

I even cut a new snowflake hoping that would help with more mounting holes (plus mine was warped). No go on that.

room temp to 100c = .005" lift at the center.

I think P=20 I=.1 or .05, D=.1 or .05 is usually what takes to get it to settle in nicely and quickly. Smoothieboard was set to that too but it didn't settle in the same way repetier does. It could be clock speed, or something else that causes it. I also noticed that repetier sets power at 100% until its within a certain range whereas Smoothie will use P to set the power ramp - same settings heated up MUCH faster on Repetier than Smoothie.
Its difficult to dial in the PID on a smoothieboard because all you have is the temperature to go by, there is a feedback value that you can watch but its difficult. I watch the power graph to dial in the PID values rather than the temperature graph.

JFettig, could you tell us what the complete Z height is for this new printer?
It looks to be similar to a Rostock.

It's roughly 370mm depending on the build plate and hot end mounting

I'll have some polycarbonate sheets coming in soon! I'm planning on making an aluminum build plate as well.

I can't say I ever 'finished' this printer, but its much closer :)

It's been printing away, lots of PETG(Inland branded esun from microcenter)
