I haven't bothered putting a damper on my extruder. It doesn't seem worth the effort. Still glad I have 4, though.

I didn't do a damper on my extruder either but that's because I didn't feel like it was worth the effort with the extruder being quiet already.

Posted another round of the dampers here, if anyone is interested. Cost is looking around $23 USD shipped. But seeing as how another user did this just a few days ago, I bet most of you have them by now.

Tricklaser sells some cork liners that work pretty well, too.

Sweet Jesus these things are AWESOME! The order I put together came in yesterday. Just got them installed, and now the loudest thing on my machine is the E3D fan.

I can't believe how well they work. An absolute must for any machine IMO.

To those that paid me, your dampers were just picked up and are on the way.

Curious if there are any other locations to order RMax compatible-stepper motor dampeners in the US? Anyone have any extra they'd like to part with for a new (don't even have my printer yet) RMax owner?

I'm waiting for my Rostock Max V2 kit to arrive, and have already ordered the motor dampeners. I was wondering if there's been much thought in fitting Dynamat (or other similar sound-deadening mat) to the walls of the lower cabinet to help reduce noise and vibration transmission. I have done searches here and on google but not found much!

I know stopping the source of the noise by fitting the dampeners is the best place to start (and the cheapest), but was wondering if the mat would would help at all (or if it's even worth it - considering the mat isn't the cheapest stuff!).

Any thoughts?

Once you have the astrosyn dampers, the only sources of excessive noise are fans and the extruder. Don't even think about dyanamat -- no need.

I tried the dynamat type material approach on my Rostock Max, sadly it made virtually no difference which was surprising since the conclusion I've heard many people come to is the motors are resonating the lower cabinet area so it should have helped, but it didn't.
