no its not heating up at all I can touch it and it just feels like cold metal. temp reading keeps saying 17.9 then 18.1 but goes no higher. The peek fan which uses the other 2 wires is not turning on either. They are hooked to the correct spots, the spots detailed in the manual.

I don't know but I'm assuming it is because the wires are too thin, I was worried about this when I was installing them but figured since it was included in the kit it would probably be OK, but now that I think of it I probably should have used the wire I used for the extruder extension for the hot end and the hot end wires for the extruder.

Either way I found some correct size 4 conductor wire I had around the house and am going to see if different wires make a difference. Here's to hoping!

Well, no such luck!

When I click on "Heat Extruder" the temperature reading does not go up it stays at about 21.46 to 21.59! I thought it was because of the wire being too thin, re-wired it with thicker wire and still the same thing! It is hooked to "Heat 0" on the Rambo. I do not see where it could be going wrong and I need some help. Ive never dealt with 3d printers before so I dont have much of a clue of where to start with it! What could be causing my problem? its almost as if no power is going to it, it is still cool to the touch.

I think you're going to have to break out the multi-meter. I'm not the electrical guru on this forum, so maybe PM someone you trust. I think you need to check Heat 0 and see if it is actually providing power. If not, could be a blown fuse or bad board Email SeeMe and see what they would do for you.

You are correct. The first thing to check is the fuses. There is a good possibility that one of them is blown.

Where is the second fuse? I checked the one in the upper right hand corner but couldn't see any others, probably just hard to see with all the wires in the way.

Ok I found the fuses but do not know how to check to see if it is blown. The red led comes on when I push the hot end button. I guess the best thing to do is pick up a couple 5 amp little auto fuses and solder them in with a little length of wire. Other than the fuse being blown I have no clue what could be wrong.

Take the fuse out and check for continuity with a multimeter. You should get a connection of close to 0 Ohms.

Thank you guys, I pulled out my multimeter as suggested and started testing along the connection, came to the hot end and it wasn't giving any resistance reading, hmm I thought so I took it all apart to realize, much to my embarrassment , that I had twisted the resistors with themselves so no wonder it wasn't heating up! lol, needless to say it made me feel pretty stupid I don't even know why I'm admitting it but oh well, share in my success as well as failures I guess! In my defense, I remember the night I was doing the hot end and it was really late like on to the next morning so I was probably just a little out of it I'd say Luckily I hadn't taken the RTV out yet or anything so I just twisted them correctly and connected the little pig tail connector on and I was back in business!! yeah!

Here you go, this is what all M hard work resulted in, a very nice black Rostock Max with blue lettering and Trick Laser carbon fiber arms! I think it's a thing of beauty an that it goes nicely with my whole set up.

The build may be done but the configuration ha just begun!

I'm in the middle of configuring my Rostock and I'm at the part where I need to keep changing the PRINTER_RADIUS lower to get the hot end to stop pinching the paper down, but it doesnt seem to be moving at all. I have gone from like 197.90 to 190.00 and it is still pinching the paper, whats up with that am I doing something wrong? I set the EEPROM to 0 to deactivate it and have set the height in the firmware as well.

never mind, I wasn't reading it right, I have to adjust the end stops for each tower every time I change PRINTER_RADIUS and then see if the center is still pinching it! I got it now lol.

Download the current rev of the manual. There's a big honkin' flowchart in there now.

what temperature should I run ABS at? The manual only gives for PLA and says consult the vendor for the temp. So, what should I set as my hot end temp and my heated bed temp for ABS?

I run ABS at about 215-220 and the bed at 80.

Well, it's not like I have tons to compare to, however I think my first print ever came out pretty good. The only part where there was was mess up was when it was done printing the 4 little towers and started the soli top part, between the gaps in the few spots the plastic fell a little. Other than that It went good I think, it was great to watch in real life rather than online! I'm hooked! Lol! This was the calibration cube in the manual with seemecnc yellow ABS, Hot end at 220 and bed at 80.

Looks pretty good to me!

Doe anyone know what the measurements are supposed to be for the calibration cube?

I get 25mm when I measure my cube, and 8mm for the holes.

That looks dang good! Congratulations on getting this far.

I'm not sure what the measurement is supposed to be but if you load up the stl in NetFabb you can use the
measurement tool to see what they are supposed to be.

He's got it nailed, Eaglezsoar. The cube is 25mm square and the posts are 8mm square.

Wow, looks like I did a good job building and dialing this thing in! I'd say it was all relatively easy and straightforward with the help of genebs manual. Great job on the manual by the way! Don't think it would have been so fast and easy without it!

On another note I'm trying to figure out the settings I should use for slicer to print a stretchlet for one of my daughters, I'm guessing to set it with 0 infill, but how fast could I go with it? What's the good place to study up on slicer or is it all just trial and error?
