I am having an issue with my Rambo board.
I am having an issue with my Rambo board.
Good day my fellow people. I am having an issue w/ my Rostock Max V2 Rambo board.
today I was printing with some new PETG + Filament, and everything was going good but it jammed up towards the end of a print and so I cancelled the print and noticed that I had some Filament gunked up on the nozzle, so I grabbed a Brass brush with a plastic handle and was cleaning the nozzle like I have done numerous times before on my other printer and then all of a sudden the LCD shut off, fans as well and then nothing out of the printer, no life, no nothing. It still connects to the computer but simplify 3d cannot communicate with the board what so ever.
I checked the fuse and that isn't blown, I don't have any magic smoke so I am unsure what exactly happened.
For the time being, can I use a regular Arduino and Ramps 1.4 board to continue using the printer?
Thanks..
A Very sad man =(

There are three fuses,,,,,,
R-Max V2
Eris
Folger Tech FT-5 R2

Are you sure you check all the fuses? F3 in particular?

Yes, an Arduino Mega/Ramps 1.4/Drivers combo could be used to do the job. You'd have to make sure the firmware is configured for that board, transfer all the wiring, and set the current limits on the drivers by hand since there are no digipots.

I did not check all 3 fuses, because I only thought there was 1. Let me go check it out and I will take a look.

Well, I looked at them, but I don't know what it would look like if it was bad. It's tiny and I can see nothing wrong with it that I can tell.

You have to pull it out of the board and test it with a meter, they don't look any different when they are blown.

SUCCESS! I tested the F2 Fuse, and the F3 fuse and i googled that if it reads under 1 ohm it's good and the other didn't read at all..
so now the question is where the hell do i get these fuses locally?
Re: I am having an issue with my Rambo board.
https://www.amazon.com/Surface-Mount-Fu ... no+2+fuses
Would those work? I really don't know which ones are needed. A google search keeps pulling up circle type fuses.

I got the part # from the wiki from the link above and ordered 10 of them from Digikey. Hopefully they ship 1st thing tomorrow and arrive Wednesday. MN to MA priority hopefully will be quick. I don't want to tear the wires off and use an arduino and reset everything up, but at the same time i don't want the printer to be out of commission for too long. Sigh. glad to know it was that fuse though.Polygonhell wrote:This post has the part numbers in it

We all learn something everyday and now you know about the fuses, how to test them and where to get them.
I also hope that your fuses get to you promptly so you can get back to printing.

If you can not wait, and are certain you have resolved the issue that blew your fuse, here is a link to a solution myself and some other forum members have used in order to hold out until our replacement fuses arrived.

FWIW I blew F2 or F3 the same week I built my printer, I ordered 10 5A and 10 10A, that was almost 4 years ago, and I've not blown one since.sLpFhaWK wrote:I got the part # from the wiki from the link above and ordered 10 of them from Digikey. Well I will definitely say, that is a creative way to fix the problem. Luckily I have a 2nd solid printer I can use until these fuses show up, so I don't need to resort to that temp fix, but I am surprised that worked lollightninjay wrote:If you can not wait, and are certain you have resolved the issue that blew your fuse, here is a link to a solution myself and some other forum members have used in order to hold out until our replacement fuses arrived.

if you get the 3d printing bug it bites you hard and want to do it every day.
Re: I am having an issue with my Rambo board.
lol I also ordered 10 of the fuses just incase. Knowing how it happened i'll be sure not to do it again, but it's better to be prepared.Polygonhell wrote:FWIW I blew F2 or F3 the same week I built my printer, I ordered 10 5A and 10 10A, that was almost 4 years ago, and I've not blown one since.sLpFhaWK wrote:I got the part # from the wiki from the link above and ordered 10 of them from Digikey. Murphy is pretty good about not breaking something that you have spares for. I learned that racing radio controlled cars.

Murphy is a sumbitch when it comes to r/c cars. no matter what you have extra he finds a way to break something you don't have and is on back order to get. i hate him. lolMac The Knife wrote:Murphy is pretty good about not breaking something that you have spares for.
