Hello,
I've been printing for 14 months now and really enjoy the experience. I have one problem that started several months ago that is puzzling. If I were to print a 1" hollow cube with .125 thick walls, the cube will be approx 1" in both X and Y axis (minus slight shrinkage from cooling), but the Z axis dimension will be -.080" and if you cut the part in half so you can measure the thickness of the side that was against the hot plate it will thin by .080". I've been using MatterControl since I started and have upgraded the software when new releases come out. Today I downloaded a crescent wrench from Thingaverse and the bottom .080" of the wrench was missing. The knurled nut used for adjusting the wrench was flat on the bottom, missing about 40% of its thickness. I'm running the E3Dv6 hot end and carbon fiber tube arms. I experience this regardless of material printed or whether I print a model I created or one I downloaded. I don't know if I have a hardware or software problem....has anyone run across this problem and if so, found a solution? Do I have a setting off in the slicer?
Thanks,
Cris
Missing material on z axis, Rostock Max V2
Re: Missing material on z axis, Rostock Max V2
Have you told it to crop the bottom of your model?
From the 'SETTINGS' screen, 'Layers/Surface,' there is a 'bottom clip' setting.
I notice this is only visible if you have the 'Advanced' settings checked.

Weasel314,
Sure enough, clip bottom of model was set to 2mm. I must have done that sometime ago without understanding the implications.
Thank your help!
