Hello All,
I bought the black Rostock Max V2 on Black Friday and received it the following Monday! My son and daughter have been helping me with the build.
Progress so far...
We have the base finished (through page 68) but have skipped the "Preparing the Onyx Heated Bed" section since I've been worried about the soldering. So far the instructions have been awesome.
My daughter and I also used a silver paint marker to paint all of the edges. It looks great!
Mike

Thank you for choosing a SeeMeCNC printer! The silver probably looks nice against the black too.
Soldering isn't too hard. Google "soldering techniques".

Re: Hello from Ohio
Hi Mike, I am also from Ohio, near Youngstown.
Welcome to the forum and thanks for buying a Rostock Max V2.
Soldering is an acquired skill and I recommend that you practice on wire joints that are only for practice. When you feel confident in your soldering
techniques then you can solder your heat bed. Make sure the solder is rosin core solder made for electronics and never use acid core solder that is made
to solder pipes. You can do it, just practice a little.
Perhaps you can send us a picture as you go along because we love pictures!
Best of luck with your build and if you have a question, we can help you.

Re: Hello from Ohio
the pads on the Onyx are the tricky sort when you are new to it. it helps to tin them with a blob as the manual says for the two big ones but also a tiny blob of pre tinning on the small pads as well helps and when ever you do this sorts of pads on circuit boards for example be carful not to over heat as sometimes that can cause the pad to lift from the board. the big pads need more heat though as the manual says.
if you have some scrap electronics (dead VCR on the attic perhaps) you can practice on its circuit boards which in addition to giving you practice from doing wiring will build the general skill.
building this kit sure is fun isn't it
