Parts that I printed are too big

Post by dsl158 »

Ive been trying to print out some thing, for example I was trying to print an e3d v6 mount but the upper plate was too big and wouldnt fit. Some one said I had a XY scaling issue but I dont know what that is and was wondering if anyone could help me fix this.

Hi, maybe it's not a XY issue. Print a 10x10x10 cube, with one perimeter, 0% infill and no top layer. Measure it.

Oh, and did you fix your tower problem? If so, please update your thread so others can learn.

Do you have the ball-cup arms or the previous version?
If you have the ball cups and your arm length is set to 269 your prints will be bigger. Because your printer thinks it has to move further than it actually does. The ball-cup arms are 290mm long.

But... I don't think that changing the arm length will change the height of a print, and you are printing taller also.

After it to 290 the 10x 10 x 10 cube measures 10.4 (L)x 11.7 (H) x 10.8 (W)

if your steps per mm are wrong in EEPROM everything will be the wrong size... 92.4 is what mine is set for I believe,

If you have a v2 and that's the basic steps per mm instead of the extruder steps per mm, yes that is enough to make a huge error. It should be 80.

I think he meant steps per mm and not extr. Steps per mm.
By default steps per mm is 80 and extr. 90 something. So unless you've changed it on purpose, it should be OK.

When I get home I should change the Steps per mm to 80. Correct? Because I recently changed to repetier host so I wouldn't be surprised if I forgot to change some settings and right now the steps per mm are 92.4.

The drive steps per mm is 80. NEVER change this. The extruder steps per mm *default* is 92.4 (or so). That CAN be changed and should be as part of the extruder calibration process.

If not already, change your rod length back to 269 and do the Z calibration process again.
