Well for now the precipitation is still rain at least but not for long I fear. I finished building "Louis" (hot headed and fun as... You get the idea) about four days ago now. I have to say it was fun right from meeting "The Brown Fairy" at the door with much anticipation. And you're right... that's a lot of tape. I decided pretty early on that I would peel what I needed when I needed it and let the parts stay protected as long as I could. Not that that was my initial motivation mind you, but it sounded good when my wife asked why I wasn't peeling anymore.

I'm looking forward to a lot of serious work and serious play in the near future. I suspect that the home cockpit I built in the basement will be getting a pretty good overhaul in the endeavor to improve my printing skills. Yup.... I'm one of those nuts who loves flying so much I built a cockpit. At any rate Louis just finished what I hope will be a "sixth times a charm" tablet mount for the Matter Control Touch. I can't get that thing to stay stuck to the bed no matter what I do. Purple glue, blue glue, Aqua-net, Aussie Mega... cold print, hot print, fast print, slow print, brimmed, rafted, driven into the bed...

If you have any tips let me know. When they curl up, even if they do finish the print without self destructing, they are so weak high in the sides that they break taking the built in supports off.

What sort of filament are you using? Have you tried a different roll? We've had a number of people with issues caused by bad rolls recently it seems. (I got one myself, a roll of Hatchbox red ABS). Beyond that, I second the PEI, it really is helpful. Another thing is a heat spreader, Trick Laser has a nice one if you haven't got machine shop access, if you do, well, maybe make one yourself. Or better yet, two, one for PEI to be laminated to, and one for the glass bed for when you're doing things that don't play nice with PEI, such as (IIRC), ninjaflex.

Been thinking about the PEI thing... I started reading about it before the printer arrived. The filament is red ABS from SeeMeCNC ordered along with the printer... I'll test the white I ordered at the same time and see what happens. As far as the red goes I'm also noticing some major layer adhesion issues on the test cube. Tested out some PLA today and it seemed alright but the parts were pretty small.

A heat spreader just might not be a bad idea. I did finally get the bracket printed but it took a good heat lamp aimed at the part during the print.
