Teflon liner length

Post by harley573 »

Can anyone tell me how long the teflon liners are supposed to be? I can't find data on that anywhere.

It depends on which version of the hot end and nozzle you have.

Inner tube is 47.4mm
Outer tube is 39.8mm

These are off the new hot end that came with my Add-A-Struder kit last week.

Awesome. Thanks! I just got my Max a few weeks ago and melted the plastic insulator and the teflon tubing due to a thermistor issue before I ever got to try putting plastic through it.

The lenght of the inner tube depends on of much you screw the PTC fitting in. I installed both tubes separately being few mm to long, screwed the nozzle in (with only a slight momentum), measured the distance and cut the tubes.

Hmm, I simply took the tubes out of the brand new hot end I just received and measured them. The PTC fits fine also. Custom fitting the tubes may give a better fit though.

I used the lengths provided by mhackney and they seemed to work. I installed the nozzle until the flat face contacted the face of the heater body, then took it all apart to see if it looked like anything was smooshed. No visible sign of damage, so I put it back together and ran a piece of filament into it. Of course it stopped when it got to the nozzle orifice, but fed easily up to that point, so I think the lengths he provided are accurate.
