Shipping Damage - Go Ahead And Build Or Wait?

Wouldn't you know it, my Rostock MAX kit showed up mid-afternoon (it's Friday) and, when I had time to unpack it I discovered this:

The damage made it into some of the laser cut parts from what I can tell; I didn't remove the tape or the stretch wrap holding the sheets of laser cut parts together. I stacked everything up and sent an email to support. But it's Friday, and it's just after 5:00 there (heavy sigh...).

So, what is the routine? Do the folks at SeeMeCNC prefer that you wait until you hear back from them? Or do I go ahead and put together what I can? Hate to waste a weekend....

I'm sure they'll replace anything that's been damaged. They have been pretty good about it so far. but they're are closed for the mid west reprap festival try again on monday.

Thanks for your thoughts, cambo3d. I went ahead and pulled the layers apart. On general inspection the damage appears to extend into one of the "Top Clamps" (68370) and the "Electronics Mount" (68358). I may find other damage as I dig deeper and look closer. These are easy things for them to replace and, perhaps, I'll have plenty else to do before the replacement parts arrive.

I'll send them a detailed list of parts I find damaged (and hope there aren't any more).

I really appreciate SeeMeCNC's efforts. I feel sure they'll get this taken care of.

yeah you probably dont want to assemble it with the electronics mount not installed, You would have to take it all apart to get that door back on. That is a pain in the ass.

Unless you just decided to leave it off. I dont have anything mounted to my electronics door.

You could assemble it without the door then just loosen the surrounding screws and wiggle the door out. I had to do that because I bought the lcd and installed the door in the manual and it was in the wrong place. Well wrong place for me. It is doable but there are a bunch of other things you can do while you are waiting. Trust me. Read all of the build posts there is a lot. Happy building.

I think the place you chose for the Rambo is much better than mounting it to the door as it seems so many do. When I finally get to that stage I am definitely going to use your location.
If the holes are not there to mount it ( I have the acrylic version) then I will drill them. Thanks for posting all the pictures.

Yeah, with localized damage like that they will just send replacements for the damaged parts. Go ahead and build! One suggestion, get started with the Steve's Extruder and hot end. That way the hot end will be fully cured (if you silicone) when you are ready to install it.
