Thermocouple placement question

Post by rs50pilot »

I've read several people use thermocouple to measure hot end and bed temps. I have a dvom that has a thermocouple hook up.

So I was wondering where exactly are you guys putting the thermocouple?
Wrap it around the hot end? Hold it to the hot end?
Lay it on the bed? Under the bed?
Thanks

Typically you hold it at the junction of the nozzle (brass) and aluminum on the hot end or just touch the heated bed to take a reading. If you are doing something more sophisticated - like my post on the barrel fan measurement - you can hold it in place with Kapton while you take readings over some time period.
