I hit the Emergency Stop button while running a PID auto-tune. When my printer came back the temp was always 0 when the power supply is off. If just the USB is connect it reports 200. What's the deal?

It's probably shorted somewhere.untitled86 wrote:I hit the Emergency Stop button while running a PID auto-tune. When my printer came back the temp was always 0 when the power supply is off. If just the USB is connect it reports 200. What's the deal?

Even though I didn't physically touch anything? It's been working fine for about a week.

...Thanks for the help, I think you're right about shorting it. It looks like the plastic jacket on the wires to my thermistor melted, causing it to short on the hotend resistor leads. Damn. I just ordered a few of them so I'll have backups if this happens again.

The head moves around, it get's hot, things can move, insulation can melt.untitled86 wrote:Even though I didn't physically touch anything? It's been working fine for about a week.
The device it's self is very simple, it's unlikely to fail.
My heated bed thermister read 240 when I assembled it, one wire was shorted against the metal on the outside of the heated bed center hole. Measuring the resistance it was in the right ballpark, I ended up having to disassemble it and place some Kapton under the connections.
