Getting the Top on Flipped over...
If you get all the way to the point, you've run your wires through the extrusions, don't panic if you find out the top plate is flipped over. I almost wish that they'd laser etc. top side, or bottom, if it's hidden. I've got all of assembly work done and the belts adjusted and tightened but, I just found out, my Easy Extruder's feed line is on the opposite side of the motor. Rearranging four screws can fix all of this. First, you have unmount the easy struder, then you need to unmount the motor, and those are only four screws you need to worry about but, you will have to remember to put the very last top plate on flipped over as well. The filament, still has to feed through in flow, a near straight line. So, remount the motor on the opposite side of melamine, then remount the easy struder mount so that the hole in the top, is nearly in line with the easy struder's filament feed. So, you won't have to take it all apart to put together functionally. If you wanted it exactly as seen on the Internet, you would have break down the whole top, belts, cheap skates could stay on the extrusion but, a mirrored finish will be just as functional. That can be done with just four screws and remembering to put the top on upside down, just like the first half of the top. There are two large pieces of melamine, and it's the triangular shaped piece I'm writing about. The wholes for the filament, all wind up on the opposite sides, and the distances all look funny. I'm not really fixing it. It's just the geometry is right, even if you flip over the two dimensional top part you mount the filament feed motor to.
I'm pretty sure you could print 0.065 weed eater line, just as well. I'll probably add a 2 inch long spring, and mount it with just a wood screw. As the filament comes off of the roll, inside of the top, it will follow it and guide it down the hole. I'll send a picture of the mod.
James.

Yeah, good luck with that. I would love to see how you're going to feed filament PERPENDICULARLY to the design feed path of the extruder and actually expect it to work.

Something has a screw loose and it is not the printer.

Uhhh... In case you were indeed serious... that's not where the filament feeds into the EZStruder. Not at all.

In my experience, if you are a new to something, you should do like everyone else says you should.
Then, after you finish all, after you understand why experienced people said it should be like that, then, you can tweak it, and find a better solution of your own.
In the process of a 15+ hours build, reversing the top plate would take you what ? maybe 1h? It is worth doing it right from the beginning...
Now, if you want to go your own way, then why picking up a kit in the first place ?
If you are too stubborn, you'll learn the hard way... if you ever learn at all.

To be fair, I the way I build them here is "upside down" becausde it makes the blinky eyes the correct way when looking at the front of the machine.. besides that, after the "this is a better direction" line... I'm just going to sit back and enjoy this..

Upside down, inside out or back in time, you're still not going to be able to feed the filament into the SIDE of the EZStruder and have it work.guanu wrote:To be fair, I the way I build them here is "upside down" becausde it makes the blinky eyes the correct way when looking at the front of the machine.. besides that, after the "this is a better direction" line... You people are right. I figured the filament wrapped around the stepping motor gear, then was pinched by the bearing for traction. It's doable, and I think it may have been designed that way then just went straight. If that path curled the filament, it would have jammed in the boden tube.
