Help!First layer of fillament doesn't stick on to bed

Post by kplilgongjoo »

Hi,

I am having trouble using orion delta 3d printer.
The first layer of fillament doesn't stick on to the bed so it is not working properly.

is this because of calibrating? or other reasons...?

Please help me to figure out.

Thanks,

I found the Elmers glue stick to be very effective when using PLA, 50 degree heated bed, and 2 crosshatched layers of glue. I find it hard to get some parts off.

Can you post details? What material are you trying to get to stick, what have you tried so far?

As RAMTechRob mentioned, the glue is quite nice (Elmer's disappearing purple), however I couldn't get that to work either on the stock glass. I might be a solitary case, but I couldn't get much of anything to stick to the glass.

If it's PLA, try the glue stick at 50 or 60 degrees on the bed as mentioned. Failing that, many people recommend using the Aquanet Extra Super Hold hairspray.

http://www.amazon.com/Polyetherimide-Op ... etherimide You could also do the Polyetherimide sheet. 12" x 12" x 0.03". I'm using something different, but if you look up PEI in the forums, you'll find a long conversation on why this is the cats ass. No glue, hairspray or anything like that. Just tape it to the glass (special tape), but then you should be ready to rock.

The FIRST thing to look at is calibration, if the Z height is too high, the filament looks round when being places onto the bed and it will not stick. If it is too low, it looks very flat and often will peel up behind the printhead.

A photograph of your first layer would be informative.

Assuming that the layer height is correct, and your bed is in the 50-60 degree bed, then you can increase adhesion with PVA glue on the bed (glue sticks as mentioned) or some unscented hairsprays, but with PLA these aren't strictly necessary.
