Prozacs Max Build
Re: Prozacs Max Build
Picked up the kapton , really cool guys over at CML supply , got me 1/2 and 1 inch for 18 dollars. They also have 12 inch which would be good for abs bed , little pricy at $96.00

Re: Prozacs Max Build
About finished with da da wiring. I ended up unsleeving and resleeving the 18 g wire so I can run it through the extrusiions.

Re: Prozacs Max Build
Please remember not to run the endstop wires near the stepper wiring.
Re: Prozacs Max Build
Yeah about forgot , now the end stop wiring is in the center and the stepper is outside in it's coated sleeve , do you think it is okay ? I'll make sure they are seperated at the base.

Re: Prozacs Max Build
That should be fine. Just thought I'd remind you before you started on the wiring. Grounding the uprights if you have wires in the center is also something I would do.Prozac wrote:Yeah about forgot , now the end stop wiring is in the center and the stepper is outside in it's coated sleeve , do you think it is okay ? I drilled a small hole in mine and used a self tapping screw to hold the grounding wire. Not really necessary but I like to err on the side of caution.
Re: Prozacs Max Build
Got all my wires ran and starting to organize.

Re: Prozacs Max Build
Well getting closer , while reducing the slack for the there thermistor , I pulled it out then stuggled to keep it back in , had to remove the RTV and start over . Finished up the wiring I didnt want to trim the wiring yet , just in case of my routing and Noise.

Re: Prozacs Max Build
Lookin' great! Be glad that thermistor didn't pull out in the middle of a print
My advice, zip tie/strain relief the wires, or it will pull out when the effector starts flying around the print bed
Which looks like it will be happening soon!

Re: Prozacs Max Build
Thanks , I do wish I would have took more time , and had looked into others build , but I enjoy the challenge of my mistakes. Just cant wait to get this going , so many models Im ready to bring to life! I wrapped the hotend around the resistors and thermistor with some kapton , and Installed.
Re: Prozacs Max Build
Some things Im worried about , I used Red High temp RTV , which I then read to use the copper blah blah stuff. Also thinking I may have Noise issues do to how I ran my stepper 18g wired along the extrusion and beside the endstop , not touching.about 1/4 apart. I did seperate with A-foil wrap in Kapton. My bed when I was testing square did drop in the center a little 2/16 maybe. (Figured I can loosen or tighten screws to level / shim , but failed to do so after base completion. )doh! Belt tension, I install serpentine belts and others all the time in the automotive blah blah , got spring in the belts which I think is good? Just some things Im stressing over. Other that wrapping/ziptie the hotend Im pretty much done with the build , just need to install my new work bench/level and convert.

The red RTV should be fine, I would not have run the endstop wires that close to the stepper wiring but the foil should help stop some of the potential problems.Prozac wrote:Some things Im worried about , I used Red High temp RTV , which I then read to use the copper blah blah stuff. The rest of your concerns are minimal and you need to get the machine up and running to see what problems you may or may not have. The wires to the hotend
must be secured, if they starting flapping in the breeze you will experience shorts and the potential to ruin your Rambo board. The effector can really get moving
at times and you do not want the wires jiggling, wiggling, or bouncing around.
Happy Printing!
Re: Prozacs Max Build
Thanks for the input. Checked for square and am happy with the results. Still need to tighty up the hotend wiring and the extruder needs wired.

Looks awesome. The green sure gives it a unique touch.
Re: Prozacs Max Build
Thanks , im happy with it. Going to be printing very soon!
Installed the zero backlash , glorified rubberbands , didnt pay attention when I ordered and got three of them , lots of extra.

Re: Prozacs Max Build
Attempting the first print , having some small problems , and one major. Of course the abs isnt sticking to the glass. didnt have any hair spray did find pink hairspray of my daughters , hope it works. What is also happening is when I hit Run Job button
my hotend temp drops down to 175 , I have change my default settings to 250 hotend and 115 bed , but it still drops it down? Anyone got ideas ?

Re: Prozacs Max Build
Both of those seem a little high. The hotend should print ABS around 230C and the bed around 80C should suffice. Did you verify your temps with a multimeter/thermocouple? Very important step! If you get that hotend temp too high with a stock SeeMe, you will damage your PEEK section. I would do the verify step ASAP.

Sorry Im kinda lost as to what that is?
the problem im having now , is when I hit the RunJob button , my hotend temp changes itself to 200 now? Drops temp then begins to print and fails to extrude any abs?
Re: Prozacs Max Build
I'm also curious to know if maybe one of your heating resistors has failed. If you check the resistance of your heater resistors with a multimeter, what does it show?
Also, double checking that your temperature readings are correct with a thermocouple is a great idea!

Re: Prozacs Max Build
Thinking im confusing you all , my hotend I can set to 2xx whatever and it gets there pretty fast , but when I go to print the cali cube and hit Run Job , it changes the setting to 200 , when it is reached it begins to print but is not hot enough to extrude the abs , Im thinking.?
I heat up the hotend to 230 and extrude 20 mm of abs just fine. I just need to figure out why Repetier or whatever gcode is cause my hotend temp setting to change down to 200?

Can't stress how important this step is!! A multimeter is your friend
What did you have the temp set to in whatever slicer you're using?

Re: Prozacs Max Build
Im using the slic3r in Repetier -Host , Under printer settings I have change the default Extruder Temp to 230 , which it stays there , doesnt change. Now that I think about it not sure if that even that hotend ?
Re: Prozacs Max Build
So in this window what temp? 230C?
and this one?..."manual control" Repetier host

Re: Prozacs Max Build
Thanks that was the problems I was changing the settings in the printer and not the slicer , and must have overlooked that last night when i was averaging the abs diameter.
See how this works now thanks again.

Re: Prozacs Max Build
Glad you got an answer
I would still verify the temps. It's the only way to know "actual" readings. And they can be important, not only for extruding, but extruding one filament to the next. They all have a "sweet" spot. And it can be between a couple degrees. You're build looks great by the way, and Happy Printing

Re: Prozacs Max Build
Yeah I should do that , I meant to bring home the shops infared thermometer.
Here my first print so happy , thanks again , when it started to print the 3 loops didnt adhere and got trash build up on nozzle. I got some abs breaking down for some paste/juice. How long does it take for abs to break down?
