Because of a lack of measuring tools, I was really frustrated about getting accurate measurements - especially when measuring Z-heights.

This 24" Combo Square ended up working pretty well for me.

I used the square to get the protractor to 90 degrees and then slid it back down to the end. I took measurements at three points around the head's circumference and averaged them as the Z-height to enter in on @Geneb's page 149 - Max Length settings.
