Re: Yoda - because I can

There are several recent bug fixes that may at least partially address this: https://github.com/alexrj/Slic3r/commit/8ba6405cc99556487e1efa876ff6f523d408bd13 (some nearly-thin walls were discarded.) https://github.com/alexrj/Slic3r/commit/edbdc5ec55cc681c3ad51ba10581a8019daaa7b4 (New automatic ...

Re: Z AXIS ISSUE. Any help would be appreciated!!

I've been testing the PCs with a 32-bit version of Windows XP Professional. I'm an RTFM kind of guy ;-) Having written hardware drivers with assembler in the dim past I can understand why the Mach guys don't relish the idea of rewriting their driver for 64-bit; but I get the impression from their ...

Re: Z AXIS ISSUE. Any help would be appreciated!!

(re-editied to clarify...;-)) John the Mega uses a 16 Mhz clock and the Sanguino uses a 20Mhz clock - assuming they're using the the main RC to seed an oscillator it may still be a limitation; I'm just diving into the RepRap electronics to see if I can get away from hardware problems on my hosts ...

Re: Z AXIS ISSUE. Any help would be appreciated!!

Yes, that should work; and the sanguino will give you a clean, fast pulse on the input side; but I don't see why you wouldn't just drive everything through polulus :-) The input side of the TB6560 boards is not well isolated so even though the sanguino is well buffered you might see some feedback or ...

Re: Viotek power supply not turning on

These are really simple power supplies so if there is power on the output on the switch that goes to the windings, and the fuse is good, then something bad has happened in the windings and it's really not worth looking any further - just get another. Be careful in there - many friends have ...

Re: Z AXIS ISSUE. Any help would be appreciated!!

Just to be clear about the risks of power on the controller - powering down includes both shutting off the power supply and waiting about 10 seconds for the board to pull all power to ground, and either shutting the PC off or disconnecting the "printer" cable. Make sure that all the LEDs on the ...

Re: Klee Gerard joining the group.

Thanks Michael. I've scoured the sources here and on the Yahoo group and I think I'm pretty well prepared. I still have some small bits and pieces to collect before I get started.

Re: Not sure where to post this... electroplating ABS

Back in the 80's I had a half-dozen fiberglass "lip" bumpers for a Jaguar XKSS replica my company made flame-sprayed with an aluminum layer, which we had plated. The aluminum layer was about 3/32" over a 15 mil polyester gelcoat. It worked well, with good impact resistance and temperature tolerance ...

Klee Gerard joining the group.

Just finished the physical build from a full kit. Clean, well thought out design; all the parts were there! Nice job on the Instruction Manual (1.1); now I'm pursuing the mysteries of the electrical diagram. I'm starting with the original spec machine using the 3-axis CNC controller. After that is ...

Re: Wire guage?

Twisted pair network cable is available both as solid and stranded 24AWG. The stranded types are more resistant to fatigue, and since you don't have to care about high-frequency cross-talk and other interference they would be a good fit for the moving bits. Network patch cables are often stranded ...
