Re: Improving ABS adhesion on hotbed

Im using a heated aluminium bed with a layer of Kapton tape which works well. Best results so far are when I clean the Kapton with some tissue dipped in Nail polish remover first. (has acetone in it and is cheap and easy to get hold of) Im running the Bed at about 80deg C and the Hot end about 220 ...

Re: Broken extruder, likely machining issue

Hi John, the same thing happened to me with the one I bought a couple of weeks back. (had it delivered to Dallas as I was working there, but back in the UK now) There seemed to be very little metal between the threads.
Hope you can help me out.
Cheers

Re: Viotek power supply not turning on

Thanks John, Had another 400w supply in an old PC so I used that- pretty sure the new one has thermal cutout too. I think the problem was when I reconnected (after manually moving the steppers) the 4 axis board while the PSU was on causing a surge. All works fine now- just have to remember to power ...

Re: Viotek power supply not turning on

Mine appears to have died as well. Checked Fuses etc all wiring done exactly as per the manual. Only used it a few times for testing and not even done my first print yet. Bit annoying as i've only just bought the kit. Is this an inherent problem with the PSU or Kit which needs to be addressed?

Re: Cannot fit Hot end to extruder- seems too long

Hi There, Thanks for the replies. Checked the crossbar and the countersunk holes face the table so the screws go in. Bottom of the extruder is definitely on correctly- the slots on the motor mount and opposite side prevent it from going on incorrectly. Also the 2 lugs that locate the hot end bottom ...

Think I have a solution- have fitted 2 slightly oversize nuts as shims which brings the hot end down a bit. How does this look?

Cannot fit Hot end to extruder- seems too long

IMAG0493.jpg Hi There as shown on the pic the hot end seems too long and pushes up against the rollers stopping them from turning. Im pretty sure I assembled the extruder correctly. If I have got it right is it acceptable to cut a section from the end of the peek to give me more clearance - what ...
